Music

There is not a person I know that is not somehow influenced or moved by music. We're so passionate about it wether we are telling someone about this great new band we love or wether we are passionately bashing a horrid band we can not stand. Music can be a motivator, a healer, an antidepressant, a lullaby, and it can even bring out anger in us. From an early age, music is shoved in our ears as a learning tool. Kids love music. Even before they can speak they bounce up and down and show joy. As we get older music guides our life. There are specific songs we listen to when we're sad to when we need to get motivated to clean that bathroom finally. Did you know that there are specific effects on our brain when we're listening to music we favor versus music we don't? I found this video where it shows you exactly that. It sort of blew my mind. And by sort of, I mean it did.

Music can take us back to memories. You know that song you and your ex used to listen to? It comes on and all of a sudden you're feeling the same feelings you had back then. Or that song you and your friends listened to in high school, the song totally sucks now, but you love it because of the memories it brings. I personally go on a walk every day and listening to music makes me feel like the shit. I'm awesome, check me out. I'm walking to the beat, woo. Anyway. Music is crazy and it's a bit of a ambiguous subject to try and blog about. I just thought that video was insanely amazing. And I just wanted to say that music is awesome, keep listening to it forever and all of the time.

Also, what the hell? Prodigies are awesome. This kid walks weird but you'd walk weird too if you had multiple symphonies being composed inside your weird brain.

On a different note. I always say people are amazing. This video made me tear up.

And now I leave you with what I'm listening to right at this moment. Ero at heart for.ever.

Music make me the happy.
Also, dancing rules my life.
End.

Animated Tattoos

I'm super down with tattoos and think they're interesting. Living in Richmond there is a tattoo shop on every corner and just about everyone in the city has at least one tattoo. I have never heard of an animated tattoo but shit, I guess everything is possible. This is another day where my mind is blown by our technology. Check this video out. It's not real is it? It can't be.

What the what!?

Also, I need an iPhone. Donations are accepted.

A slice of Pi

I watched a documentary on a man named Daniel Tammet. Daniel has high functioning autism and savant syndrome. The special thing about Daniel is that not only is he really mathematically inclined, but he also has the verbal skills to explain to scientists what he's feeling, how he gets the numbers in his head, and etc. There has never been a savant that has been able to do this.  In the documentary, The Boy With the Incredible Brain, Daniel is sent all over the world to meet with different scientists. I have seen many savants do crazy mathematical problems within seconds that would take a regular person weeks to do, but I have never seen a savant recite Pi.
Ask anyone you know what Pi is and they will say 3.14 or some might even go as far as to say 3.14159265. (Woah your friend is REALLY smart!) Daniel takes it up a few thousand levels.

Uh, that is insane.

Pi is really interesting because no one knows when it ends, or IF it ever ends. Is there anything you know of that never ends? Nooopee! That is why I think Pi is pretty special.  And I'm not alone. Check out these musicians that let us hear Pi.

Also, let's talk about how dumb we are. This kid has us all pwned.

He also knows over a 100 world capitals as well.

We all need to stretch our brains a bit.

Every Day

Is there anything that you do every single day that could potentially inspire people to get off their couch? I absolutely know I don't.

Well, this guy does
Jeff Harris

That guy totally inspired me when I watched his video. Every day, for the passed twelve and a half years, Jeff has taken a self portrait of himself or enlisted a friend or stranger to take one of him. EVERY DANG DAY! I kind of make it sound boring so just watch this video and see what I'm talking about. He says it better himself.
This video is not on youtube so just click on the link below for it to take you to the inspirationess.

Tell me that doesn't make you feel like shit for wasting time.

DOers

Let's talk about Doers.

What's a doer, you may ask? Well, a doer is a person or a group that does things that better themselves, others, their community, or even THE WORLD... dun dun duunn. Simple. Ok, let's not be ambiguous and say the world; let's just stick with things that are in our reach first. Just saying you will do something doesn't cut it in this case. Saying "I'm going to build a community garden and grow vegetables and feed the hungry," then not doing so, is just you spitting out crap to make yourself feel good and fool others into thinking "Hey, look at this guy, he's doing things!" TED had a speaker that did a bit on how human phycology works when a person SAYS what their goal is. The individual feels a bit of satisfaction just by saying what they will do, and therefore are less likely to actually do the said thing. The speaker and his team did a study and it was proven that those who said their goal out loud vs those who didn't, worked only a quarter amount of time toward their goal before they felt satisfied than the quiet ones. So, shut the fuck up, and be a doer.

Here is an example of a doer that's in my life. I'm inspired every day by him and hope to reach as high as he does.

He and a partner started an event called FEAST here in Richmond. It's a borrowed idea from Brooklyn and I am stoked that it's now here in the town I love. Feast is a way for local doers to get funding for their idea. Basically, the doers submit their idea, Feast selects the three they think will do the best here in Richmond, and we, the community, purchase a ticket to the event as a donation to the winning idea. Personally, I don't feel like it's a donation. You get dinner and a drink, wonderful company, live music, and also, an opportunity to listen to some fantastic goals. I'd spend money on that regardless. You don't usually get things when you donate, do you? Well, here you do and it's awesome! All the food is catered by a local restaurant, the band that plays is local, and the doers are local. When you arrive at Feast, which is usually in a local art gallery, you can sit down and enjoy a glass of wine as everyone arrives. Then you listen to three presentations. After that, you get to shove that delicious local food into your mouth, and also take time to ask the presentees any questions you may have. Followed by all that, you vote on your favorite idea and TAADAA someone wins money to support their idea! And for those of us who are not huge doers, if feels good to DO something to better our community. Now someone can be a doer and not just a talker because of YOU. Yaaayy!

Doing the Impossible

Sure, humans do some fucked up shit, but you can't say we don't push impossibility to it's limits. Every single thing we use every day is amazing. Anywhere from flying to using our cell phones to the internet.

Now we can walk on water. What!?!

People blow my mind every dang day.

Home Sick

If there were only a car that could take me to visit Croatia and Bosnia on a regular basis, I would be a very happy lady. This summer I plan to jump on a plane and go back home for a little while. Here are the locations I will visit while there.

Opuzen, Croatia
This is my mom's home town where I summered as a child; I also lived here two years before I came to America. It's a very special little town to me.

The pictures above were taken by a local photographer, Ivo Ožić.

Above photo was taken by me

Also, every summer there is a paddle race between surrounding towns that I always go watch. It's really amazing and fun. The men paddle down the Neretva River from Metković, Croatia to the beach in Ploče, Croatia which is aprox 15 miles in distance.

The Dalmatian coast has beautiful beaches so I will be rolling around in all of this as well.

I'll also be taking the train to Sarajevo, Bosnia which is where my dad grew up and where I lived for the most part while living over seas.

I'll will be traveling around to other cities and hopefully make it to a surrounding country or two but these are the main two places I will visit. Time to start saving!

Be Nice to Others.

Sky Lanterns

Now, most of us have heard or seen many videos featuring the release of thousands and thousands of lanterns. We all, I'm sure, think it looks so magical and wish we could be a part of something so beautiful.
Oooooh....aaahhhhh....

Sky lanterns are also known as Kongming Lanters. They are used in some Asian countries as a tradition during festivals. They also have been used in many other countries around the world.

The lanterns were frowned upon because originally the lanterns had wire frames, which not only polluted the very place you wanted to make beautiful, but also was a danger to any livestock or animals near by. They are illegal in parts of China and Germany and completely illegal in all parts of Australia. The whole fire hazard thing is in issue as well, since the flame doesn't always go completely out when it loses enough power to float. Currently, they have come up with an ecologically friendly version of the lantern. There is still that whole little fire problem though.

BUT WHATEVER IT'S PRETTY!

I wanna go on a date like Rapunzel and kiss a cute boy!

I never let a little fire hazard stop me from doing what I want. Let the mother fucker burn...

My Cats are Weirdos

Planking Cat

Caught in the act

I can see you, you idiot.

Fist Bump

It's The Nitro Circus ya'll!

Nitro Circus is a group of guys who borrowed the Jackass guys' idea but made it a bit more extreme and with a bit of talent thrown in as well. I just really like watching assholes do dumb things; I will most certainly be checking this movie out.

Nitro Circus was originally featured on Fuel TV as a miniseries. It was a bunch of guys traveling around the world performing the crazy crazy, things such as base jumping, dirt bike tricks, and various other dangerous stunts. Later on in 2009 MTV got ahold of these guys and featured them on their channel. The show has since been discontinued but now there's going to be a dang movie! The main guy behind this crazy mess is Travis Pastrana, an X Games gold medalist.

Here is an example of their show on MTV

It doesn't take a keen eye to see that these guys are more talented and more crazy than those Jackass fools.
